Taş EviLuxury Stone Villa with Private Pool, Kaya Köy, Fethiye, Turkey
Tas Evi - The Stone House - is a secluded private holiday villa in Turkey with its own private swimming pool. It has three double bedrooms, all with en suite bath or shower.
It is perched on the side of a hill in South West Turkey, overlooking the Kaya Valley and Kaya Koy, the deserted village evacuated by the Greeks in 1923 and the setting of Birds Without Wings, the recent novel by Louis de Bernieres.
Tas Evi gets its name from the local stone from which it is built. It means this privately owned holiday villa is pleasing to look at and not just another concrete monstrosity dumped on a beautiful landscape. It also means that the house stays pleasantly cool in the hottest days of summer. There is air conditioning in all the bedrooms for when that is not enough.
This private villa is the highest house at its end of the Kaya Valley. This means you get to overlook the entire valley while nobody else gets to overlook you (with the possible exception of an occasional goatherd). Your noisiest neighbour is the farmer's cockerel.
However, although this holiday villa is in an idyllic, rural setting, you are not totally cut off from the fleshpots of civilisation. Kaya Valley has plenty of restaurants within walking distance, ranging from the very simple (and cheap) to the sophisticated (and expensive). You are only 10 minutes drive from the night life of Hisaronu and another 5 minutes from Olu Deniz; in the opposite direction, Fethiye is only 15 minutes away; and you are just under an hour away from Dalaman airport.
The private swimming pool is built into a terrace on the south facing slope just below the house. This means that it gets the sun all day. It is 10 metres long which means that, although it is hardly Olympic standard, you can swim up and down when the urge to be energetic takes you.
The owners run a charter yacht, Astral Music, in the summer and this is their home when the holiday rental season is over. That means that this is not just another holiday rental villa that gets visited by its owners for two weeks a year. It means that this is a much loved and well cared for home and it shows.
It shows in the kitchen which is laid out and equipped for people who enjoy cooking. It shows in the new 30 ton water reservoir which means that you are unlikely to experience any of the water shortages that can afflict other villas for rent in Turkey. It shows in the ADSL wireless internet connection which means that the laptop you bring with you is not just dead weight. It shows in the 2kVA uninterruptible power supply which means that, if the power ever goes off, you can still read, watch satellite TV, listen to music or access the internet when other Turkish holiday villas have gone dark. We love this house and we think you will too.
Using Villa Tas Evi as your holiday accommodation, you are well placed to visit some of Turkey's most spectacular scenery and a wealth of historic sites; you are also only 15 minutes drive from the beach. For more information, see "Things to do." Car hire is available at Dalaman or Fethiye but we can also arrange to have a hire car waiting for you at the villa for when you arrive.
